Sydney balconies, apartment blocks, and suburbs are set to sparkle when #DIYVivid lights up the streets at 7pm on Friday May 22.
In a cheeky tribute to the Covid-cancelled world-famous festival of light, Sydneysiders are encouraged to dust off their festive lights and decorate their homes, shining a light in these socially-distanced times.
#DIYVivid will run every evening for two weeks from 7pm Friday May 22 until Friday June 5.
#DIYVivid will host a Facebook Live event from 7pm, streaming images and live crosses from people participating in the first night as well as a set from Sydney DJ Tassone..
#DIYVivid is the brainchild of Sydney-based entertainer and Vivid festival die-hard fan James Breko, who when this year’s Vivid Festival was Covid-cancelled, instead of getting sad, decided to get Lit!
Says Breko, “The last few months have been incredibly tough on everyone, and the crisis is a long way from over for many people and businesses. But now that we are slowly easing our way out of iso, let’s take a moment to spread a little joy and make Australia sparkle!”
As the official Stay At Home rules on social distancing continue to be revised and updated, James Breko has this piece of advice for people joining in the #DIYVivid fun, “The beauty of #DIYVivid is there’s no need to travel to be part of the action. Get your street, your neighbours or your apartment block involved and connect together safely at home.”
