YogaBar

The newly opened YogaBar in Sydney Westfield is a dedicated yoga, pilates and barre pit stop. In the crowded city gym scene, it’s setting up shop in a niche market – albeit a venture of gym chain Fit N Fast.

Their approach taps into the desire for natural and sustainable – from the eucalyptus cleaning solution for mats to their Who Gives A Crap toilet paper. While the pairing of the studio with an active wear shop and a health food café nudged my cynical side, the café participates in Ozharvest, an organisation which partners with food providers to minimise waste and provide food for those in need. The food also happens to be delicious, with a mouthwatering selection of gluten-free and dairy-free options.

The design of the studio is clean and simple, with floating wood floorboards and wispy white curtains creating an open, summery feel, worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their yoga mats are the quality, non-slip, long-wear mats that unfortunately you never find in a regular gym. The instructor that took the class I attended was precise in her instruction with an emphasis on technique that wasn’t exclusionary to less-experienced yogis!
