It’s the year of Wonder Woman as Ensemble Vinifera dominated Sydney’s north performing their Female of The Species concert celebrating the brilliant works of female composers worldwide: spanning the early 19th century through to the present day.
Held at the art deco Independent Theatre in North Sydney, as part of the Prelude in Tea Sunday afternoon series of classical music events, one relished not only in the delectable assortment of cakes and tea before the concert, but the sonerous, hypnotic, mesmerizing sounds of the powerful ensemble; with the Cello, Harp, Piano, Viola, Flute, Clarinet and Mezzo Soprano taking the audience on a powerful journey of elegant lyric expression and dramatic effect. My personal favourite: the passion, brilliance and power of Morpheus by composer Rebecca Clarke.
Not just for classical music lovers, the Prelude in Tea series is ideal for those wanting to get their fix of extraordinary, live music played by the world’s most talented musicians.
Next concert in the series is the The Streeton Trio, considered Australia’s most internationally successful piano trio, who will take the audience on an exploration of masterworks by some of the most beloved Czech composers.
