The Adventures of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell in Return to PantoLand

Reviewed by Georgia Cassimatis

Lights! Cameras! Well not cameras but one spectacular, glittering set decked out in the magical majesty of the State Theatre: the perfect place for a pantomime about the enchanting fairytale Peter Pan, the free-spirited boy who can fly, never grows up and takes ordinary kids to Neverland: a place full of fairies, pirates, mermaids, native Americans….and the evil Captain Hook.

True to pantomime form the show is full of singing and dancing, slapstick comedy, topical jokes, audience participation and for the parents lots of camp, funny innuendo. Boo the villain Captain Hook! Cheer the hero Peter Pan! Laugh at all the wacky pirates!

Highlights of the night include riotous comedy by the pirates (toilet paper is involved), a Kylie Minogue song sung by a Mermaid, and Todd McKinney’s rather fabulously funny, mischievous portrayal of the villainous ‘Dr Hook’ obsessed with twirling his moustache and his double entendres….

Not to be missed these school holidays, it’s fun for all ages from 3 to 103, and endless laughs for all the family.
