Smartfone Film Fest open for Entries

The popular festival that has attracted thousands of entries worldwide since its inception - all shot and edited on phones or tablets
- adds a special SF3 ISO category to its popular smartphone shorts, SF3 Kids, feature films and 360/VR  (Virtual Reality) sections.

The SF3 ISO (Isolation) films must be 3 minutes or less and shot within local lockdown laws.

Festival co-directors and founders Ali Crew and Angela (picture attached) said they wanted to create a category
“to reflect the unique times we’re living in and inspire even more people to tell their stories through film”.

This year’s SF3 Ambassadors are film industry icons, including Award winning actors Kerry Armstrong and Christopher Stollery, Hollywood Director, Phillip Noyce and Kriv Stenders of ‘Red Dog’ and ‘Danger Close’ fame. See the brief Phillip Noyce SF3 promo here: https://youtu.be/c2Nn9EHB5pg

Kerry Armstrong said she loved that "all you need is a smartphone".
“There’s no budget constraints, there’s a great deal of freedom and inventiveness; I really look forward to seeing all the wonderful ideas!”

Award winning smartphone filmmaker, Jason van Genderen of Treehouse Creative (@WeAreTreehouse -
and creator of the short ‘grandma shopping at home’ film that is currently going viral around the world!) returns to the festival as a judge this year.
He has been involved with SF3 since its inception and he says SF3 has cemented itself as one of the world's premiere smartphone film festivals, attracting storytellers and audiences from every corner of the globe.
“In an unprecedented time when most conventional film productions have ground to a halt, smartphone filmmakers are creatively thriving in their confined homes. I'm looking forward to seeing some exceptional new film concepts emerging at SF3 this year, and I’m proud to return as a sponsor for 2020."

To mark this year’s launch, SF3 will host an exclusive online premiere screening of last year’s winner of the SF3 2019 Best Feature Film,
BLUE MOON, to entertain and inspire (Visit: https://youtu.be/5iBEP6rtRqc).

Filmmaker Stefen Harris said his company Dark Horse Films New Zealand is proud to participate in SF3 Smartphone Flick Fest!
“SF3 was our favourite festival we attended last year. I’m looking forward to SF3 2020 and I know it will be an absolute blast again.”
Blue Moon will screen on the SF3 website all weekend from Friday night 1st May at 8pm to midnight Sun 3rd  May.

As always - in addition to screenings of the best in the regular sections and the new ISO category  – there will be the red-carpet SF3 Gala awards, all held in early October (pending the lifting of public gathering restrictions – or fully online if not!).

SF3 is thrilled to welcome back Struman Optics, We Are Treehouse and Luma Touch as this year’s major sponsors.
