HSBC is proud to announce the launch of this year’s HSBC a world of opera, a free concert performance showcasing some of Opera Australia’s young stars-in-the- making, and a celebration of 50 years of Opera Australia performing at the Sydney Opera House.
2023 marks the fourth anniversary of HSBC and Opera Australia’s partnership and their commitment to bringing communities together to experience world class opera. To celebrate, HSBC will host a free ticketed concert performance featuring artists from Opera Australia’s Young Artist Program, on Sunday 16th July at the Sydney Opera House. For the chance to secure free tickets, Sydneysiders are invited to enter the ticket ballot that opens today and runs until 5:00pm Monday 3rd July 2023.
HSBC a world of opera gives Sydneysiders an opportunity to hear some of Australia’s finest young opera performers singing a selection of the world’s most famous arias, for free. HSBC and Opera Australia hope to spread the passion of opera to all, by bringing together Australia’s rising stars and celebrating their exceptional talent, international experience and powerful performances in a program of opera hits from around the world.
Antony Shaw, CEO of HSBC Australia, said, “As a leading international bank, HSBC believes in bringing different communities and cultures together to share in unforgettable experiences. The Sydney Opera House is an iconic venue for performing arts in Australia and the world, though for many people the most they experience of the building is passing it by on their commute into the city or taking the occasional photo. Our partnership with Opera Australia opens the passion of opera to everyone, bringing communities together to experience a fantastic line-up of young artists all for free. This event gives all Sydneysiders a unique opportunity to experience world class opera, in a world class setting.”
This year also marks 50 years of Opera Australia performing at Sydney Opera House and HSBC a world of opera provides yet another great opportunity for our young artists to share their passion of opera.
Opera Australia CEO Fiona Allan says the Young Artist Program at Opera Australia is essential and provides a pathway for the professional development of young Australian singers. “The Young Artist Program at Opera Australia is a testament to the ongoing, intergenerational value of opera, and our dedication to fostering both young singers and audiences. Nurturing future generations of Australian operatic talent is integral to our company and ensures that we are able to continue developing Australian talent into world-class performers.”.
