Us Sydneysiders love our furry friends and we also love to make the most of the incredible bars and eateries around our beautiful city. That’s why we’ve compiled some hot spots where dog lovers head either with their own pet, or where they are likely to be surrounded by other people’s pooches. Sydney has its very own Bars March event (in March), which combines the love of dogs and bars to raise money for animal charities. If you are one of the many Sydneysiders who would love to have your own pet but just don’t have the time or money to commit to one, then you can try out dog-sitting with Mad Paws and even get paid for looking after other people’s pets!
The Vic on the Park, Marrickville
The Vic on the Park is a supporter is Maggie’s Rescue charity and you can even buy your dog its own charity bandana. It boasts delicious food, a large back garden with big screen and a homely, family-friendly vibe. Catch games on the big screen or live bands and DJs, all whilst having some mouth-watering food surrounded by Sydney’s friendliest families and fur babies.
The Courthouse is home to some quirky decor, and that’s not just the guests! Located in the buzzing and creative Newtown, the ‘Courty’ is a local favourite with people and pooches alike. The interior is full of fairy lights and a neon Australian Coat of Arms, whilst the spacious covered and heated courtyard has rainbow stairs, an outside tinny bar and is the hot-spot for canine companions.
The Grand National Hotel, Paddington,
The stylishly upgraded Grand National is a boutique Hotel, serving pub food staples like schnittys, salads and burgers. The Nash, as it’s lovingly called, welcomes dogs in the front bar - just keep them out of the fancy bistro. Every Friday 5-7pm is happy hour where you can make the most of $5.50 drinks.
