Following a stellar season of ‘Sunset Sessions,’ Café del Mar partied into their third birthday with a banging DJ set by electronic royalty Basement Jaxx. The venue managed to steal away the famous duo for an intimate gig on the Harbour to cap off their whirlwind tour of Australia as part of the Electric Gardens music festival.
The crowd, already hyped from the smooth stylings of Tristan Case, Rodd Riches and Arnott Olsen, went ecstatic for the duo as they dropped fan favourites such as Raindrops, Where’s Your Head At, Do Your Thing and Romeo. In a characteristically unpredictable wrap up, the pair finished with a stripped back arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody, accompanied by a live musician and the crowd banding together to fill in Mercury’s inimitable vocal stylings.
Lounging and partying a Sunday afternoon away at Café del Mar, with its panoramic views of Darling Harbour and a glorious Sydney sunset, is the sweet life indeed.
